Fast vierzig Jahre sp\u00e4ter ist das Thema nicht weniger aktuell als in den 80er-Jahren. Aber es scheint, als k\u00e4men wir einer Antwort nicht n\u00e4her. W\u00e4hrend vor allem j\u00fcngere Generationen die Tatsache akzeptieren, dass die Geschlechter flie\u00dfend sind und traditionelle Geschlechterrollen infrage gestellt werden, ist \u201etoxische Maskulinit\u00e4t\u201c ein Begriff, der fast jede Diskussion \u00fcber M\u00e4nnlichkeit zu begleiten scheint.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"yrm-eNK4s\" class=\"yrm-content yrm-content-2 yrm-content-hidden\" data-id=\"2\" data-show-status=\"true\" data-after-action=\"\">\n<div id=\"yrm-inner-content-yrm-eNK4s\" class=\"yrm-inner-content-wrapper yrm-cntent-2\">\n<p>Treue Trendfans werden sich an unseren 2019er-Trend \u201eI am Woman\u201c erinnern \u2013 jetzt ist es an der Zeit, dass wir \u00fcber M\u00e4nner sprechen. W\u00e4hrend einige feiern, dass immer mehr M\u00e4nner sich trauen, auch vermeintlich weibliche Z\u00fcge anzunehmen, solidarisieren sich andere mit Influencer:innen, die M\u00e4nnlichkeit in einer Krise sehen. Vor allem in einer Zeit, in der sich viele junge M\u00e4nner unverstanden und nicht repr\u00e4sentiert f\u00fchlen \u2013 oder sogar f\u00fcr Probleme verantwortlich gemacht werden, die in der Gesellschaft vorherrschen.<\/p>\n<p>Gleichzeitig erleben wir, dass M\u00e4nner traditionelle Familienbilder ablehnen und sich in der Kinderbetreuung engagieren. Es gibt zwar Fortschritte, aber ein Blick auf die Statistik ist ern\u00fcchternd: W\u00e4hrend so gut wie jede Mutter in Deutschland schon einmal in Elternzeit war, ist es bei den V\u00e4tern nicht einmal die H\u00e4lfte (F\u00fcr 2019 geborene Kinder, BiB, 2022). Es gibt also noch viel zu tun.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><span lang=\"EN-US\">It was back in 1984 when German singer Herbert Gr\u00f6nemeyer dedicated \u201cM\u00e4nner\u201d \u2013 a very upbeat and annoyingly catchy song \u2013 to the loaded question \u201cWhen is a man a man?\u201d Almost forty years later, the question is no less relevant than it was in the 80s. But it seems like we are not getting any closer to finding an answer. While younger generations especially have embraced the fact that gender is fluid and traditional gender roles are being challenged, toxic masculinity is a phrase that seems to accompany almost every discussion about manhood.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<div id=\"yrm-4sxfG\" class=\"yrm-content yrm-content-2 yrm-content-hidden\" data-id=\"2\" data-show-status=\"true\" data-after-action=\"\">\n<div id=\"yrm-inner-content-yrm-4sxfG\" class=\"yrm-inner-content-wrapper yrm-cntent-2\">\n<p><em>Loyal trend fans will remember our 2019 trend I am Woman \u2013 but it\u2019s about time we talked about men. While some enthusiastically support men taking on more traditionally feminine traits, the influencers who claim that masculinity is in crisis often attract high levels of support, particularly at a time when many young men are feeling misunderstood, unrepresented, or even blamed for issues prevalent in society.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>At the same time, we are seeing men reject traditional family roles and stepping up when it comes to childcare. But although there is progress and the number of men taking parental leave is growing, a look at the stats is sobering: while almost every mother in Germany has taken parental leave at some point, not even half of all fathers have done so (For children born in 2019, BiB, 2022). W\u00e4hrend einige dieser Probleme einem gro\u00dfen Teil der Weltbev\u00f6lkerung schon seit Langem bekannt sind, werden sie vielen privilegierteren Bewohner:innen der Industrienationen nun immer deutlicher bewusst.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"yrm-r5xYG\" class=\"yrm-content yrm-content-2 yrm-content-hidden\" data-id=\"2\" data-show-status=\"true\" data-after-action=\"\">\n<div id=\"yrm-inner-content-yrm-r5xYG\" class=\"yrm-inner-content-wrapper yrm-cntent-2\">\n<p>Doch der anhaltende Krisenmodus hat auch positive Auswirkungen, die wir nicht \u00fcbersehen k\u00f6nnen. Viele haben begonnen, die Sicherheit und Verl\u00e4sslichkeit der einst selbstverst\u00e4ndlichen Ressourcen zu hinterfragen, und das hat den Wunsch nach mehr Autarkie entfacht. Warum sollten wir uns auf ein Energienetz verlassen, wenn sich der eigene Haushalt mit Solarenergie betreiben l\u00e4sst? Und warum baue ich nicht einfach meine eigenen Gurken an, wenn die im Supermarkt zu teuer werden? Einige von uns werden dadurch sogar richtig abenteuerlustig: Eine aktuelle Studie von Booking.com zeigt, dass immer mehr Deutsche ihre Reisen in diesem Jahr als Gelegenheit nutzen wollen, um \u00dcberlebenstechniken zu erlernen \u2013 zum Beispiel, um in der Wildnis sauberes Wasser oder Nahrung zu finden.<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Einerseits mag es \u00fcbertrieben erscheinen, doch andererseits ist ein bewussterer Umgang mit unserer Umwelt eine begr\u00fc\u00dfenswerte Entwicklung. Denn das moderne Stadtleben bedeutet, dass viele von uns den Kontakt zur Natur und zur Selbstversorgung verloren haben. Das Wiedererlernen einiger dieser Strategien kann uns nur widerstandsf\u00e4higer machen. Es gibt nichts, womit dieses mutige neue Ich nicht umgehen k\u00f6nnte!<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><span lang=\"EN-US\">A novel virus, political instability, and rising energy costs \u2013 the past few years have confronted us with many unforeseen challenges. While some of these issues have long been familiar to a large part of the world\u2019s population, many more privileged inhabitants of the industrialised nations are now becoming more and more urgently aware of them<\/span>. <\/em><\/p>\n<div id=\"yrm-cJ12O\" class=\"yrm-content yrm-content-2 yrm-content-hidden\" data-id=\"2\" data-show-status=\"true\" data-after-action=\"\">\n<div id=\"yrm-inner-content-yrm-cJ12O\" class=\"yrm-inner-content-wrapper yrm-cntent-2\">\n<p><em>But while the situation is worrying, this ongoing crisis mode has also had positive effects we can\u2019t overlook. Many have begun to question the security and reliability of resources once taken for granted and this has ignited the wish to become more self-sufficient. Why rely on an energy network when we can run our household on solar energy? And if cucumbers are getting ridiculously expensive, why don\u2019t I just grow my own? It\u2019s even turning some of us into real adventurers: a recent study by Booking.com shows that a growing number of German travellers wants to use their trips as an opportunity to learn survival skills this year \u2013 such as how to find clean water or food in the wild.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>It may seem over the top \u2013 but considering our impact on the world we live in, a more conscious relationship with energy consumption and our environment are developments that should be welcomed. Modern city life means that many of us have lost touch with nature and ways in which we can sustain ourselves. Relearning some of these strategies can only make us more resilient. Und noch w\u00e4hrend wir ungl\u00e4ubig die Preise im Supermarktregal vergleichen, d\u00e4mmert uns langsam: Bei all dem geht es nicht nur um Inflation und Energiekosten.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"yrm-OcpCl\" class=\"yrm-content yrm-content-2 yrm-content-hidden\" data-id=\"2\" data-show-status=\"true\" data-after-action=\"\">\n<div id=\"yrm-inner-content-yrm-OcpCl\" class=\"yrm-inner-content-wrapper yrm-cntent-2\">\n<p>Durch die neue Sparsamkeit hat sich fast unbemerkt das \u00fcber lange Zeit stiefm\u00fctterlich behandelte Thema Nachhaltigkeit st\u00e4rker in unserem Alltag eingenistet \u2013 wir werden sozusagen nebenbei immer nachhaltiger. In ganz Europa greifen die Menschen \u00f6fter zu gebrauchten Waren und auch Reisen finden anders statt: Obwohl der Klimaschutz nicht der Hauptgrund f\u00fcr mehr Verzicht auf Flugreisen ist, fliegen wir noch immer deutlich weniger als vor der Pandemie.<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Neue Verhaltensweisen wie diese k\u00f6nnen die Chance er\u00f6ffnen, langfristig ein Umdenken zu bewirken. Tats\u00e4chlich verstehen viele von uns vielleicht inzwischen, was Umweltsch\u00fctzer:innen schon lange proklamieren: There is no Planet B \u2013 und je mehr Menschen mitmachen, desto mehr k\u00f6nnen wir bewirken.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"none\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span lang=\"EN-GB\">After the past few years, we have become used to adapting to changing circumstances. To cut costs and save energy, we turn down the radiator, take shorter showers and shop less, thereby consuming fewer valuable resources. And as we compare prices on the supermarket shelves, not quite believing our own eyes, it slowly dawns on us: this is not just about inflation and energy costs.<\/span><\/p>\n<div id=\"yrm-EXPlp\" class=\"yrm-content yrm-content-2 yrm-content-hidden\" data-id=\"2\" data-show-status=\"true\" data-after-action=\"\">\n<div id=\"yrm-inner-content-yrm-EXPlp\" class=\"yrm-inner-content-wrapper yrm-cntent-2\">\n<p>The new frugality has let sustainability become more firmly established in our everyday lives \u2013 doing good as a side effect, if you will. All over Europe, people are turning to second-hand goods and changing their travel habits: although climate protection is not always the main reason for avoiding air travel, we are still flying less than we were before the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">New behaviours like these may have a chance of bringing about a long-term change in attitude. Endlose Expansion ist keine praktikable Option \u2013 daher suchen viele engagierte Menschen nach innovativen Wegen, um den st\u00e4dtischen Raum effizient zu nutzen und wirklich lebenswert zu gestalten. Sie warten nicht nur darauf, dass die Politik einen Wandel herbeif\u00fchrt: Jetzt beteiligen sich B\u00fcrger:innen aktiv an der Gestaltung der Stadt der Zukunft.<\/p>\n<div id=\"yrm-ayuVJ\" class=\"yrm-content yrm-content-2 yrm-content-hidden\" data-id=\"2\" data-show-status=\"true\" data-after-action=\"\">\n<div id=\"yrm-inner-content-yrm-ayuVJ\" class=\"yrm-inner-content-wrapper yrm-cntent-2\">\n<p>Warum sollte man ein Auto besitzen, wenn die Parkplatzsuche in dicht besiedelten St\u00e4dten ein Albtraum ist? Zu Fu\u00df gehen, Radfahren, \u00f6ffentliche Verkehrsmittel und Carsharing sind nachhaltige Alternativen, die verschmutzte St\u00e4dte entlasten. Und anstatt alles von Grund auf neu zu bauen, k\u00f6nnen Nachr\u00fcstungen \u00e4ltere Geb\u00e4ude zukunftssicher machen. Doch der gegenw\u00e4rtige Wandel dreht sich nicht nur um \u00f6kologische Nachhaltigkeit. Angesichts steigender Lebenshaltungskosten und des Mangels an erschwinglichem Wohnraum erkunden einige sogar gemeinschaftliche Wohnr\u00e4ume.<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"none\">Es geht um Ver\u00e4nderungen, die von Menschen f\u00fcr Menschen geschaffen werden. Und das schlie\u00dft alle ein. Denn die Stadt der Zukunft ist intersektional \u2013 sie ber\u00fccksichtigt die Perspektiven von Frauen und unterrepr\u00e4sentierten Gruppen, um sichere, komfortable und einzigartige R\u00e4ume f\u00fcr alle zu schaffen.<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><span lang=\"EN-US\">By 2050, the world population is predicted to reach 9.9 billion (PRB, 2020). If we want our cities to keep up with this rapid growth, creative solutions, and new ways to make the most of our space are needed now. Endless expansion is not a viable option, so people are constantly and creatively seeking for innovative ways to make efficient and truly livable use of urban space. They are no longer waiting for policies to lead to change. Now, citizens are actively getting involved in shaping the city of the future. <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<div id=\"yrm-1ZcRD\" class=\"yrm-content yrm-content-2 yrm-content-hidden\" data-id=\"2\" data-show-status=\"true\" data-after-action=\"\">\n<div id=\"yrm-inner-content-yrm-1ZcRD\" class=\"yrm-inner-content-wrapper yrm-cntent-2\">\n<p><em>Why should you own a car when finding a parking space is a nightmare in densely populated cities \u2013 walking, biking, public transport and carsharing are sustainable alternatives that relieve congested and polluted cities. And rather than building everything from scratch, retrofitting can make older buildings future-proof. But the change happening right now goes further than just focusing on environmental sustainability. Genau dieses Spannungsfeld und der entstehende Wandel der Arbeitskultur bewegen uns 2023 sehr \u2013 und sicher auch noch in den n\u00e4chsten Jahren.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><em><span lang=\"EN-GB\">Four-day week, side hustle, work-life separation, purpose \u2013 it\u2019s hard to say which phenomena are shaping our work culture most right now. But Gen Z in particular is confronting the world of work with an interesting attitude: if I have to work for a living, then please let it be meaningful. And while a job should pay well, they are not prepared to rack up hours on end. Often dubbed lazy behind closed doors and in the media, the misunderstood generation is actually right in a lot of ways. Work until you burn out? Since AI feeds off real people\u2019s work, using original art pieces to create its masterpieces, the lines between entertainment and plagiarism become blurred. And it doesn\u2019t stop at text and image creation. AI has been given a voice \u2013 it could even be yours \u2013 and can convincingly make you say things you\u2019ve never said. People and policies can\u2019t keep up with the rapid developments, leaving us in a no man\u2019s land when it comes to regulation and rules on how to use AI tools responsibly.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>But shying away is not the solution and AI is here to stay. So maybe it\u2019s time for us to embrace the genie in a bot as an instrument that can transform the way we work.
