“Nice words for good sleep”
IKEA is one of the world’s best-known interior design brands. Founded in Sweden in 1943, there are now hundreds of IKEA furniture stores all around the globe. IKEA’s passion is life at home – the brand’s mission is to improve our everyday lives.
Good sleep is an important issue for IKEA. So, in order to promote their concept of a “work-life-sleep balance”, IKEA asked us to develop and design a series of e-books. We spoke to experts, reviewed research results and took advantage of IKEA’s many years of furnishing expertise. Then we designed a comprehensive e-book filled with useful tips and ideas for a restful sleep, showcased different types of bedrooms and debunked some myths about sleeping. Building on this, we devoted ourselves to two focus topics: Sleep and work and family sleep. As the e-books were primarily intended to reach consumers, it was important that they had a strong recognition value. The design had to pick up on the typical IKEA visual language and make the reader want to engage with the topic of sleep. The first issue was so well received that it was also published as a printed magazine, distributed at events and given to customers as a source of inspiration and information when buying a mattress.
