Wi-Fi: driving the industrial revolution 4.0 | Wi-Fi Alliance
The new Wi-Fi standard serves as a catalyst for digital transformation
Industry 4.0. has truly arrived in Germany. Machine learning, virtual reality and the emergence of the digital twin facilitate planning, production and system monitoring – while also being safe and efficient. These technologies create huge amounts of data that need to be stored in the cloud, but also need to be accessible instantly.
Wi-Fi has been providing wireless and secure connections between devices for decades. However, new, data-intensive applications require even greater bandwidth and lower latency. To enable businesses to take advantage of these new technologies, Wi-Fi Alliance developed Wi-Fi 6 GHz.
Thanks to certification provided by Wi-Fi Alliance, companies and consumers can be sure that their devices are compatible with each other. Wi-Fi Alliance tests all devices for interoperability, security and other factors. Once the device has passed the test, it receives the “Wi-Fi Certified” seal which shows consumers that the device complies with Wi-Fi Alliance’s global standards. Wi-Fi is an integral part of our everyday lives. It enables digital participation and drives progress and innovation. The COVID-19 crisis has really shown us how Wi-Fi helps keep our lives running – from distance learning and remote work to virtual appointments with the doctor. With the opening of the 6GHz frequency band for Wi-Fi, or Wi-Fi 6E, Europe is about to take a historic step toward a wireless gigabit society.
Wi-Fi Alliance is a worldwide network of companies that produce Wi-Fi devices. The alliance certifies Wi-Fi enabled devices and develops new technologies – the latest development being Wi-Fi 6E. At Adel & Link, we support Wi-Fi Alliance by developing thought-leadership campaigns about its successes and sharing these stories with the media and policy makers. Our stories and interviews have already appeared in the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, ComputerBild and several trade magazines.
We regularly bring Wi-Fi Alliance spokespeople together with editors for exclusive interviews during (virtual) media tours, helping to raise the organisation’s profile in the DACH region.
